Leah Muller, MD, PhD
Leah was in her medical school surgical rotation when she noticed the need for more ergonomic support for surgeons. She spent hours standing and leaning forward over patients, experienced first-hand the resulting pain and muscle fatigue, and thought: there has to be a better way! With an undergraduate and PhD in bioengineering, she felt well-equipped to find a solution. She and Scott spent every Sunday for 5 years building and iterating on the solution that became the Surgeon Support System. Today, she hopes that this ergonomic support system can help surgeons to have less fatigue, which is better for surgeons and patients alike.
Scott Beyer
Scott invented the QuickLite by Golden Ratio, the world’s most copied massage chair, of which the prime characteristic was the ergonomics of the practitioner. He taught body mechanics at the Amma Institute and was an ergonomics officer at the University of California, San Francisco. He brings over 30 years of ergonomic and innovation experience to the project.
Scott is confident that this Surgeon Support System will allow surgeons to be able to spend more time focusing on their patients and less time dealing with chronic muscle fatigue.
